Acacia Ants
Acacia ants protect acacia trees from leaf eaters and other encroaching plants that might block sunlight. Come see them at work.
Live butterflies accompany you as you explore the Museum’s Living Conservatory and search for the two-toed sloth. Filled with tropical plants and animals, the Conservatory recreates the sights, sounds, and smells of a dry tropical forest.
Don’t bug out when you see and learn about the insects, crustaceans, arachnids and other bugs that live in the Arthropod Zoo. On your way out, be sure to stop and see the magical metamorphosis of butterflies.
All of the bug species in this tank play a critical role in decomposing carcasses and debris. They help return nutrients to the soil to feed the next generation of plants.
